It Was a Dark and Dreary Day...

We are getting some much need rain today. But, it's dark, cold, thundery, and plain blah outside today! I'm glad that I don't have to carry water to my garden today, but still,...

I've been dealing with some not so fun pregnancy things -
1) Not sleeping well at the normal times.
For some reason I can sleep great during the daytime hours, but at night it's just not very great - I don't get it! It is rather frustrating though. Due to the weather today, I should get a great afternoon nap...
2) Constipation
Okay, maybe that's TMI, but seriously, this is ridiculous! I'm even doing ALL the things my doctor suggested and it's just not helping. Good grief... Any suggestions!? I'm already doing: Colace, Citrucel, Water, Apples, Plum Juice... Any more ideas?!

Unfortunately I also had this SAME poop problem--and it lasted up until 40 weeks when the babes were born (actually almost 41 for Allie!). I also tried everything. Honestly, nothing worked that great for me. Just drinking lots and lots and lots of water seemed to help a tiny bit, but then I was basically living in the bathroom because I had to pee literally all the time. After I had Allie I broke down and took Milk of Magnesia and then pumped and dumped the milk (so Allie wouldn't get it in her system). Finally, relief :) I have heard that the prenatal pills have lots of iron and that can cause problems, but who knows. When Allie was constipated as a baby, the doctor told me all the 'p' fruts are good to ease constipation(peaches, pears, pineapple, plums, prunes, etc). So, there you have it. Much more than you ever probably wanted to know about poop remedies in the Dzioba household. Haha!

benefiber - one tablespoon in a glass of juice. I did that once every night and it seemed to work the best. and you can't taste it, which is great. And nutri-grain bars are good, too.

I had the same problem when pregnant with Rachel, and my mom suggested that it was probably due to the iron in my prenatal vitamins, so I cut back on the vitamins (I was able to because they already provided much more supplementation than I actually needed) and the constipation went away! I have seen prenatal vitamins without iron as well, so maybe you can experiment with a balance of the two, like take the vitamins with iron one day and the ones without the next, or something like that.
