Smiles on a Snowy Day

Monday, February 8, 2010

Bekah is so funny. I think that 15.5 months is a wonderful age.

She has learned all about the trash can in the last few days. She's also learned that she shouldn't throw her cup away when she's done drinking from it (after three times reminding her...). She's learned that you shouldn't throw mommy's new roll of toilet paper away. She's learned that really she just would be better off to not throw anything away right now. And, the heavy box of garbage bags on top of the trash can is definitely helping her remember that throwing things away isn't really the best idea.

She has learned that she can reach the light-switch at the top of the attic stairs. She's learned that it's amazingly fun and quite the power trip to turn the lights off and on and off and on and off and on and... you get the picture.

She has learned "mugga mugga" - you know - the Eskimo nose kissing. She LOVES it. She's really rather violent, but it's still awfully charming.

She has learned to blow kisses and make kissing noises or lean in (again, violently...) for a big old smooch. MMM, nothing better than a tasty, drooling toddler kiss!!!

She has learned the joy of "whistling while you work", or in her case, singing while doing anything considered work - i.e. reading a book, carrying toys around the house, or hanging out in her crib. "Hmmm hmmm dommmm" in a high squeaky voice - too wonderful to explain!

She has learned the intricate art of acting like she has no clue what you're talking about... "What, huh, don't touch the remote? What's that? I don't have any idea what you're saying. I'm just looking at the ceiling over here guys. I wasn't even thinking of a remote. Nope, nope, nope. Check out that paint job..."

And she has learned the joy of being B U S Y!! Very, very busy. That child must burn about a trillion calories a day (no wonder she's so skinny now!). She walks, runs, climbs, carries, sneaks, and does it all again.

I love my little blessing!

I have a giveaway just for you!!

Thanks to the kind folks over at Pillsbury through their partnership with my friends at MyBlogSpark I was given a chance to test out a product giftpack and a chance to share one giftpack with a winner!

The pack I was sent included:
  • 2 VIP coupons for Pillsbury refrigerated crescent dough
  • 3 small platters to serve creations on
With my 2 containers of FREE Pillsbury refrigerated crescent dough I made a brand new-to-me recipe, shared with me by my friend Lyn - KING'S CASSEROLE.
Let me tell you, this is a new family favorite!!! King's Casserole

2 packages refrigerated crescent dough
1-2 pounds ground beef
1-2 onions, chopped
Salt and pepper to taste
2-3 cups spaghetti sauce
1-2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/4-1/2 cup Parmesan cheese (I'm guessing that freshly grated would be best, but I only had the crumbles in a can... It was still tasty!)

Spread 1 tube of the crescent rolls in an ungreased 9x13 pan. Bake at 425 for 8-10 minutes.

While it's baking, brown the beef with the onions and seasonings. Drain if necessary. Add the spaghetti sauce and heat through.

Spread the meat/sauce mixture over the hot crust. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese. Gently spread the second tube of crescent rolls over the cheese and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.

Bake at 425 for 15-20 minutes.

This recipe is super fast, super easy, and super tasty. Everyone loved it at our house, even Bekah!

Would you like to make this recipe with your own free Pillsbury Crescent Dough!? Would you like to have 3 little serving platters that come in so handy at all those parties and gatherings you host?! Well, then you've come to the right place (that is, if you're currently in the USA - unfortunately these coupons won't work anywhere else!)

My Little Joy

Friday, February 5, 2010

Because life is too short

Because stress is too easy

Because being busy is cool

Because feeling like you can't handle it all is too weak

That is why I want to savor each precious moment...

My daughter...
Upset that the TP bag is so huge and hard to hold

My little lady...
Demonstrating her newest anger management technique
Biting...

My sweetie...
Playing with her favorite vinegar jug
Even when she's mad

My smallest blessing...
Wearing her red today
In honor of women's heart disease
And playing with the iPod I know
She's not supposed to touch
