Seventh Generation "Lorax Approved" Diapers

CONGRATS TO THE WINNER - SARAH O!!!!!!

Tomorrow is Dr. Seuss' birthday! Bekah has really been enjoying his books lately (although she calls them all "Cat in the Hat" books instead of Dr. Seuss books... oh well).

Recently I was excited to receive a package of Seventh Generation's Free & Clear Size 3 diapers (for Sofie) and a copy of Dr. Seuss' book "The Lorax" (for Bekah). Having never read the book or used the diapers, this was a great package to get on our doorstep :)

In partnership with Universal Studios’ motion picture debut of Dr. Seuss’s The Lorax also known as the “Speaker for the Trees” who brings environmental truth and ecological hope to all, Seventh Generation will feature limited edition Lorax prints on all our diapers and training pants. These prints are intended to remind parents and caregivers of the lessons of The Lorax, and encourage family reading and environmental awareness while creating a few smiles. Discover (or rediscover) Dr. Suess’ The Lorax as you read about his legacy and messages of sustainability with your child, and inspire a new generation of environmentalists starting with your family!

Typically we use cloth diapers during the day when we're home and healthy and Pampers Swaddlers at night (until they're too small... then we switch to Huggies). I've never purchased Seventh Generation products and was curious to see how these diapers compare to my favorite Swaddlers.

Although they're not-bleached (so they look "grungy" compared to the stark white pampers), they are cute. Bekah's rather jealous that Sofie gets the Lorax on her diapers and she doesn't!

Some information about these diapers from Seventh Generation:
*NEW Overnight Diapers are absorbent enough to keep your baby and bedding dry through the night or during prolonged travel
*Free & Clear diapers have improved more flexible tabs that provide even better fit
*Free & Clear training pants have an absorbent core made with more renewable, plant-based materials. They also feature stretchy, tear away side panels for a better fit and added convenience, as well as inner leak barriers for superior leakage protection
*Seventh Generation Free & Clear baby care products do not contain chlorine, fragrance, petroleum-based lotions or latex, and all Free & Clear products are also hypo-allergenic
*Starting March 2, you can register for a free The Lorax scrapbook with the purchase of any three Free & Clear diaper products, until supplies last

All in all these diapers hold up REALLY well, are QUITE flexible and I haven't had a leak yet! I would probably purchase them again when I'm in need of disposable diapers!!!

How would you like to win your very own pack of diapers and a copy of "The Lorax"?!

Please leave a comment below answering this question:

Which of the Seventh Generation Free & Clear Diaper products are you most interested in trying with your family in an effort to become more eco-conscious?

You may receive a bonus entry if you follow my blog or subscribe via a reader (just let me know how you read in your comment - a second comment from your first please!)

The drawing will be held sometime during naptime on Friday, March 9th and I'll contact the winner for your mailing information. Please be sure to have your email visible in your comment or on your blog profile! Thanks :)

If you follow my blog at all, or know me at all, you might have noticed our desire to live more frugally. It just so happens that often as we try to be more frugal we also happen to be more environmentally friendly! Getting rid of the paper towels has been in my mind for a while... It would save some $$ and definitely save some trash!

I've been seeing SKOY Cloths lately in many blog giveaways and I was intrigued. So, I contacted the company and asked for them to supply me with a sample and a giveaway.

I received my 4 pack of SKOY Cloths in the mail late last week. They were a little smaller than I had originally envisioned, but that hasn't hampered my using of them at all!

They came so neatly packaged - even tied in a little bow! A nice postcard sized card came along with directions for use and cleaning - it even included pictures.

I used my first cloth all day long - for some heavy duty kitchen clean up. It never failed! I didn't have a sopping mess, but was able to get the kitchen counters, table, and stove top neatly cleaned with ease.

I figured the real test of the product would be in the washing machine - I've had other cloths before that worked great... until that washer/dryer routine ruined them! Good work, SKOY, my cloths came out clean and in one nicely reusable package :)

I'm a believer - paper towels probably won't be on my main grocery shopping list anymore!

Thanks so much SKOY!!

Would you like to win your own pack of SKOY Cloths? What do you know, I have 2 packs to giveaway!!!

King's Casserole, Pillsbury Crescent Creations, Giveaway

I have a giveaway just for you!!

Thanks to the kind folks over at Pillsbury through their partnership with my friends at MyBlogSpark I was given a chance to test out a product giftpack and a chance to share one giftpack with a winner!

The pack I was sent included:
  • 2 VIP coupons for Pillsbury refrigerated crescent dough
  • 3 small platters to serve creations on
With my 2 containers of FREE Pillsbury refrigerated crescent dough I made a brand new-to-me recipe, shared with me by my friend Lyn - KING'S CASSEROLE.
Let me tell you, this is a new family favorite!!! King's Casserole

2 packages refrigerated crescent dough
1-2 pounds ground beef
1-2 onions, chopped
Salt and pepper to taste
2-3 cups spaghetti sauce
1-2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/4-1/2 cup Parmesan cheese (I'm guessing that freshly grated would be best, but I only had the crumbles in a can... It was still tasty!)

Spread 1 tube of the crescent rolls in an ungreased 9x13 pan. Bake at 425 for 8-10 minutes.

While it's baking, brown the beef with the onions and seasonings. Drain if necessary. Add the spaghetti sauce and heat through.

Spread the meat/sauce mixture over the hot crust. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese. Gently spread the second tube of crescent rolls over the cheese and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.

Bake at 425 for 15-20 minutes.

This recipe is super fast, super easy, and super tasty. Everyone loved it at our house, even Bekah!

Would you like to make this recipe with your own free Pillsbury Crescent Dough!? Would you like to have 3 little serving platters that come in so handy at all those parties and gatherings you host?! Well, then you've come to the right place (that is, if you're currently in the USA - unfortunately these coupons won't work anywhere else!)

In order to earn one mandatory entry in this giveaway please let me know what you think of my new blog layout. I made it all by myself so be nice ;) I've been playing around with a new computer scrapbooking program and have been having some fun!

For Girls Only!!

Well, if you're a guy and you're reading this... proceed at your own risk!

Since my pregnancy I have leaned that the female anatomy is not only amazing, it can also be down right annoying...

I had no idea that I could (and would) get my period back before I was done nursing.
I had no idea that my period could (and would) get worse post childbearing.
I had no idea that it would (it is) ever be possible to have my cramps intensify simply by using a tampon.
I had no idea that possibly (and most likely) my period would sometimes be ridiculously easy and then the next month (or day) hit me like a ton of bricks.
I never even imagined that PMS could (and always would) become a monthly nightmare of stomach aches, headaches, and crabbiness.

This, my friends, is why I need to get into my yearly OB appointment.

This is why I need to stop procrastinating and re-schedule the thing.

This is why blizzards can be annoying - because they close down the clinic on the day I actually had an appointment scheduled for (an appointment I scheduled while in the depths of painful despair I might add).

This is also why I am excited about a giveaway I found over at Organic Girl Giveaways. They're giving away a Diva Cup. Yup, I think it's maybe a little weird (but then again, I do cloth diaper - is this that different?!). Yup, I think it might be tough to get used to. But, yup, I have a friend who has similar period woes and LOVES hers.

So, on that note, I've just earned myself an extra 4 entries for my very own Diva Cup.

I'll keep you posted on the not so pretty details... In case you're interested :)

I Won a Great Giveaway!

Thanks to the ladies over at Just for Me...and You for a fun giveaway a couple weeks ago!

I won a sample package of Ella's kitchen babyfood!

Now, when I found out I won I thought "well, I guess I'll pass the food on to someone who has a baby eating babyfood... since Bekah is eating "real" food now"... BUT let me tell you - these tasty treats have been quite enjoyable. Today she ate an entire serving of Broccoli, Pears, and Peas! This child has NEVER eatting an entire serving of broccoli anything! I was thrilled - she ate her veggies and kept asking for more :)

Thanks Ella's!!
