Multi-use cloth

If you follow my blog at all, or know me at all, you might have noticed our desire to live more frugally. It just so happens that often as we try to be more frugal we also happen to be more environmentally friendly! Getting rid of the paper towels has been in my mind for a while... It would save some $$ and definitely save some trash!

I've been seeing SKOY Cloths lately in many blog giveaways and I was intrigued. So, I contacted the company and asked for them to supply me with a sample and a giveaway.

I received my 4 pack of SKOY Cloths in the mail late last week. They were a little smaller than I had originally envisioned, but that hasn't hampered my using of them at all!

They came so neatly packaged - even tied in a little bow! A nice postcard sized card came along with directions for use and cleaning - it even included pictures.

I used my first cloth all day long - for some heavy duty kitchen clean up. It never failed! I didn't have a sopping mess, but was able to get the kitchen counters, table, and stove top neatly cleaned with ease.

I figured the real test of the product would be in the washing machine - I've had other cloths before that worked great... until that washer/dryer routine ruined them! Good work, SKOY, my cloths came out clean and in one nicely reusable package :)

I'm a believer - paper towels probably won't be on my main grocery shopping list anymore!

Thanks so much SKOY!!

Would you like to win your own pack of SKOY Cloths? What do you know, I have 2 packs to giveaway!!!

Hi Amy, this is my first giveaway entry, so I hope I win. I'm a germ phobe, so the fact that these little puppies can be microwaved to kill their bacteria and are washer safe is cool.
I already follow your blog.
I think the best way to save $$$ is to plan ahead...weekly menus, freezer meals, etc.
I'm not going to follow skoy on fb until I actually try their cloths.
And finally, I would use the washer method most likely.
whew. I hope I covered everything. thanks for the chance. :)

Amy,
I actually have already done away with paper towels, so that's my frugal tip that's also good for the environment!

And I would probably use the washer; although it would be fun to try washing it in the dishwasher, too! I wouldn't microwave it, of course, since we don't have a microwave! And the fact that microwaving it kills bacteria is a good reason when you should not microwave food! Yuck!

I like that the SKOY cloths can replace 15 rolls of paper towels! We are paper towel fanatics, so this would be very good for us to use :)

...and I subscribe to your blog in my google reader :)

...and something I do to save money is make my own laundry soap! I don't know if it's more environmentally friendly or not -but it only costs me about 3 cents a load!

One way I'm trying to be environmentally friendly is by using Norwex chemical-free products for cleaning pretty much everything in my house.

I would love to use SKOY in my kitchen for wiping counters, tables, stovetop, etc. My regular cloths get too stinky!

My favorite fact about SKOY cloths is that one SKOY is equal to 15 rolls of paper towels. I've been going through a lot of paper towels lately and would like to cut down on my waste.

I'm following your blog on Blogger on top of Gmail now just to make myself that much cooler of a sister-in-law.

With twins on the way, I haven't started using cloth diapers yet, but we plan to once they get here. I would qualify that as being more environmentally friendly.

I've never washed a cloth in the dishwasher before, but since I'd mostly use it in the kitchen, I'd probably try that first since it's the closest place to wash it. Otherwise I'll probably use the washing machine before opting for the microwave.

I love that the SKOY cloth can be just tossed in the dishwasher to be disinfected/cleaned. It's easy. NO fuss.

One thing that I am currently doing to save money is to get rid of paper towels all together. I bought two multi-packs of white washcloths at WalMart and I keep a basket full of them on the counter in the kitchen. It is very hard to not use paper towels but we need to save money. Like you, we are in a boat load of debt... and it's not fun.

I'm sorry, I didn't write my mandatory entry first. Duh! I like that the SKOY cloth can be put in the compost bin. Talk about recycling from start to finish. There is no waste here!

I love that these can be composted, because that is rare in household cloths (but it shouldn't be).

I thought that the FAQ about them being able to be microwaved to kill the bacteria was very useful. I have seen my sister do this and I have been skeptical. I am constantly tossing sponges because I think they aren't safe to use. I like that they included the WebMD info too.
