Magnesium

As mentioned in the earlier post, my little ladies tend to have problems with their regularity. This has caused problems in getting Bekah fully potty-trained (she has yet to really use the potty for #2...), problems with Sofie's tummy/weight gaining, and is likely the culprit of Bekah's many UTI's (which she has another one... that's a whole other story!).

Miralax helps Bekah... But do I want her to have that daily for who knows how long?

Milk of Magnesia was prescribed by our Doctor for both girls and helps... But makes them uncomfortable (and they HATE it - I don't blame them...)

And then we found out that I am incredibly deficient in Magnesium - as is a lot of the US population probably (again, a whole other story, I'll get to it someday!).

So, in my quest to up my magnesium levels I learned about Magnesium Oil (from our local Health Food Store - they are wonderfully helpful and knowledgeable there!)

There is SO much information out there about Magnesium, the need for it, how we're deficient, what this can effect - wow! I knew that Epsom Salts helped with sore muscles - it's magnesium! I knew that calcium/magnesium pills can help with leg cramps... But I didn't know how vital magnesium is to every part of our bodies!

So, a new thing we're adding to our daily routine is "SPRAY" as Bekah calls it. I've mixed 1 part Magnesium Oil to 3 parts distilled water for the girls and I spray it on their feet (and anywhere else if we're having fun). Sofie gets it sprayed after diaper changes in that area if she's a little rashy - next diaper change she's usually clear (she doesn't get REALLY rashy though since she's in Cloth Diapers, but she does get red/irritated). I've used the spray myself and I've also massaged in full strength on aching muscles.

I'm interested to see how our Magnesium levels increase over the coming months! So far, the girls are becoming a tad bit more regular... through just simple, natural changes/additions like Flax and Magnesium.
